Mac owners can now jailbreak iphone Firmware 3.0. iPhone Dev Team announced the availability of PwnageTool for Mac through MuscleNerd on twitter and on their blog as well.
It looks like the Dev team have decided to release their tools in phases due to bugs and unexpected changes. Though the PwnageTool is now available for Mac OS X, QuickPwn for Mac OS X and Windows will take them more time. Is this a small success for Apple?
But the real good news is that you can use Youtube too on your iPhone. The Dev team however makes a few important exceptions, in using this PwnageTool:
- PwnageTool for Mac shall not be used, if you are using a 3G iPhone with yellowsn0w and rely on yellowsn0w to obtain cellular service. You shall wait until ultrasn0w is released.
- PwnageTool will also NOT work for the iPhone 3GS.
- PwnageTool will not work for iPod Touch 2G (New iPod Touch) and one should use Redsn0w to jailbreak it
The above clearly implies that you will only be able to jailbreak Original iPhone (1st Generation), Original iPod touch (1st Generation) and the iPhone 3G, with this tool for Mac.
